How to Save Hotlines for Offline Access

Learn how to bookmark hotlines, install the PWA, and download an entire city's directory for offline use during emergencies.

Emergencies often happen when connectivity is worst — during typhoons, earthquakes, or in remote areas. Ugnay.ph is designed to work offline so you always have access to critical numbers.

1

Bookmark a hotline

On any hotline card, tap the heart icon to bookmark it. The heart turns red to confirm it's saved.

No account needed — bookmarks are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB.

What you will see

Bookmark the most critical numbers for your area now, before an emergency happens. Police, fire, and medical are good starting points.

2

View your saved hotlines

Tap Saved in the bottom navigation (mobile) or the top nav (desktop) to see all your bookmarked hotlines.

Your saved list works offline — every bookmarked number is cached locally on your device.

3

Install the app

Installing Ugnay.ph as a Progressive Web App gives you faster access and better offline support.

On your browser, look for 'Add to Home Screen' or 'Install App' in the menu. After installing, Ugnay.ph appears as an app icon on your device — no app store download required.

4

Save a city for offline

On any city's directory page, look for the 'Save for Offline' button. Tapping it downloads the entire directory for that city — all categories, all hotlines.

This is especially useful before traveling to an unfamiliar area. Download the local directory while you still have connectivity.

What you will see

A typical city directory is under 100KB. You can save dozens of cities without impacting your storage.

5

Access hotlines without internet

When you lose connectivity — during a typhoon, in a remote area, or when your data runs out — open Ugnay.ph normally.

Any city you've visited before, any hotline you've bookmarked, and any city you've explicitly saved for offline will load instantly from your device's local cache.

What you will see

Cached data updates automatically whenever you visit a page while online. No manual refresh needed.
